Alla Prima is a direct painting approach where paint is applied wet on wet without letting the earlier layers dry. The workshop will explore shape and tone as a part of a gestural and expressive painting practice. All levels welcome. Oil paint, canvas and brushes all supplied. Participants will take home a ‘finished artwork’. |

Still life workshop with Ruth Horton DATES: Saturday 20 November TIME: 10am – 3pm COST: $125 or $120 BFF EVENT: Artist/educator Ruth Horton will adopt a creative approach to the subject matter 'Still Life’ - using lead -in exercises to stimulate ideas and processes. You will be working with vessels constructed from clay and found materials. Artists will draw, print and collage their responses as a way into a fuller composition. Participants are invited to bring their own tool box of drawing and painting materials. Paper and support material will be provided. |

In this one-day workshop using acrylic paints you will be guided by a master portrait artist on his personal technique of creating depth and portrait likeness using a full spectrum of colour. Participants will start constructing the square tiles (using primary and neutral colours paper strips) and will be inspired by the ‘concrete art movement’ and its precise and pre-emptive compositional structures, to use their tiles to compose a unique paper sculpture. |
