Traditional Watercolour Landscape Techniques
with Phil Egan
DATES: Saturday 4 December
TIME: 10am-3pm
COST: $125 or $120 BFF

EVENT:  Be guided by watercolour artist Phil Egan through traditional watercolour techniques such as monochrome and tonal washes and using a limited palette to create a landscape work you can take home.
Participants can bring own brushes/paints if they desire. ​

Alla Prima Painting

EVENT: Join artist Lauren Jones for a fun oil painting workshop that explores the ‘Alla prima’ technique. Alla Prima is a direct painting approach where paint is applied wet on wet without letting the earlier layers dry. The workshop will explore shape and tone as a part of a gestural and expressive painting practice. All levels welcome. Oil paint, canvas and brushes all supplied. Participants will take home a ‘finished artwork’.

The Art of Living
Still life workshop

EVENT: 
Artist/educator Ruth Horton will adopt a creative approach to the subject matter 'Still Life’ - using lead -in exercises to stimulate ideas and processes.  You will be working with vessels constructed from clay and found materials. 
​Artists will draw, print and collage their responses as a way into a fuller composition. Participants are invited to bring their own tool box of drawing and painting materials.
Paper and support material will be provided.

Coloured Portraits

EVENT: Facilitated by Archibald Finalist Dr Jandamarra Cadd you will create a portrait in full spectrum of colours.
In this one-day workshop using acrylic paints you will be guided by a master portrait artist on his personal technique of creating depth and portrait likeness using a full spectrum of colour.
Participants will be required to have a sketch portrait prepared prior so they can get straight into painting..
Open to all artists of all levels. All paints and brushes supplied. ​

Glazing Masterclass

​Over 5 weeks be guided by master ceramist Dennis Forshaw to learn all about the processes and techniques of glazing. You will learn all about glaze applications, testing, using pigments and stains and experiment with different firing temperatures.

The masterclass is suitable for beginners through to those with experience.

The Art of Landscaping

EVENT: A fun, creative painting workshop with local artist and art educator Ruth Horton, will explore the medium of acrylic on paper and canvas. Artists in the workshop will be encouraged to bring photos relating to their own experiences and travels. Studies of natural plant and landscape forms will combine to form imaginative Art works that reflect the diversity of Noosa and its surrounds.

Plein Air Abstract Watercolour

EVENT: Join local watercolour artist Libby Derham on a relaxing day outdoors learning to loosen up with watercolours.
Begin by ‘drawing whilst walking’ and then build on this as you begin your watercolour and mark-making ‘sampling’ outdoors. The culmination of the day is bringing it together to create an individual abstract or semi-abstract painting on Clayboard.
Ideal for those with some experience in watercolour.

Tac - Tiles Paper Sculpture

EVENT: Create your own modular sensory artwork, inspired by Max Bill words: "an infinite number of very different developments can be evolved according to individual inclination and temperament."
Participants will start constructing the square tiles (using primary and neutral colours paper strips) and will be inspired by the ‘concrete art movement’ and its precise and pre-emptive compositional structures, to use their tiles to compose
a unique paper sculpture.

Botanical Contact Printing

EVENT: Discover nature's colour and patterns in this eco dying workshop. You'll be delighted by the slow reveal of transferring natural materials to textiles. Participants will use flowers and leaves to create unique prints to make their own silk scarves and art journal. Ticket includes $45 materials.

This hands-on workshop suitable for beginners and more experienced ceramic artists will cover several print and mark making on clay techniques including tetra-pac intaglio and transfer monoprints.
Ellen is an established Noosa based ceramic artist well known for her highly decorated porcelain vases, bowls and sculptural work.

Throwing Large Forms

Over two days, master ceramicist Barry Tate will guide you to work with large sections of clay and teach you how to create your own large forms. Pick up tips on how to make taller and wider wares. Participants will complete two large pieces.

Wild Life Art

Participants in the workshop will be encouraged to express their ideas in a creative and encouraging environment. Participants will create studies of animal life rendered in charcoal, ink and watercolour, which will reference the current exhibition focusing on Australian wildlife. SeedArt Lab: Seeds to Abstraction

EVENT: Come and dig into the world of Bio-cultural diversity through the lens of Seeds with a morning of experimental drawing and mark-making followed by an afternoon constructing an artist book to tell your story around seeds & important places in your life using a lively semi-abstract or abstract visual approach, exploring seeds as both motif and symbol.

Sophie Munns launched her Homage to the seed project in 2010 and continues to share this all-encompassing fascination with others.
