Intro to Glaze Making with Marc Sauvage
Are you ready to take your ceramics journey to the next level? Are you spending too much money on commercial glazes that don’t offer the possibilities that you’re after for your creative work? Are you ready to get your hands dirty? Then one of the Introduction to Glazemaking classes might be just what you need. You require no knowledge of ceramic chemistry, the course is practical and hands-on, and will teach you how to mix, process and apply glazes from existing recipes. You will also learn how to blend different glazes to create new ones and add colourants to a base glaze to create a whole new range of glazes. In addition, the Introduction to Glazemaking, will cover triaxial and quadriaxial glaze blends, explore the melting temperatures of a range of ceramic raw materials, and investigate and test glazes on a number of different mid-fire clays. On completion, through a process of testing, observation, discussion, and group sharing of results, all participants should have developed a number of practical and usable glazes which will help to fuel further interest in glaze development for their creative practice. |
