IMAGE (L - R): Work details by Lizzie Connor; Ann Gustavsson; Margaret Builder; Yanni van Zijl; Rosie Lloyd-Gilbert.
A handpicked exhibition showcasing the works of female artists based in the Noosa, Sunshine Coast and Gympie Regions.
Over 12 months in the making, 'Illuminate' is a first collaboration for BFAC and W.I.N.D.O ( Women Initiating New Directions* ), platforming our region's female creatives and in sync with International Women's Day & Queensland Women's Week.
Each piece is presented in response to the broader subject: Contemporary Landscapes of Women Imagined
'Illuminate' features paintings, sculpture, new media installation and film chosen for their conceptual connection to theme. The subject invites commentary on the social, cultural or political landscapes that inform the artists' lives as women.
*Women Initiating New Directions Organization (WINDO) Inc. is a volunteer-run not for profit group based on the Sunshine Coast. WINDO aims to create positive social and cultural change through a powerful, inspiring and educational combination of thought leadership and the arts. Find out more, here
