New Homes for Old Art: Selection Week
17 - 20 June Butterbox Gallery Our New Homes for Old Art is back again this year! The Butterbox Gallery space will be open over four days from 17 June - 20 June to bring in your collected art pieces for selection. Our team will be available, by appointment, to look through your artwork and evaluate suitability for the New Homes for Old Art sale. The New Homes for Old Art exhibition will be held from 31 July - 7 September. This exhibition provides a financial opportunity for those wishing to downsize their art collection to resell artworks. Each year this exhibition presents an incredible array of works and provides a chance to pick up a bargain. Please note: the art sale is focused on artwork collected over time by the seller (not the seller’s own artwork). If you have some great artworks that you have collected from other artists or galleries that you now wish to sell please contact Kevin Wilson our coordinator at [email protected] to find out more or book a time. Date: Tuesday 17 June - Friday 20 June Times available: 10am-3pm Location: 11 Maple St, Cooroy |
Proudly supported by Bendigo Community Bank Cooroy

Exhibition Opening
Friday 27 June, 6pm - 8pm Whole Gallery CBFAC welcomes three new solo exhibitions and a suite of new artwork by our Butter Factory Members with an exhibition opening event on Friday 27 June from 6-8pm. Andrew Hillhouse’s On the Nature of Daylight investigates the fragmentation of light and image, drawing inspiration from the natural environment’s shifting forms and elusive beauty. Alexander Naray’s exhibition, aptly named Sunshine Coast to Outback Queensland, presents a collection of oil paintings expressing his life-long love for Australia’s unique and dramatic environment, from the East coast to the Northern Territory. Carnival by David Thorogood explores the curious internal sensations and simultaneity of levity and gravity, stillness and movement. Upstairs in our Member’s Gallery, you will find a brand-new collection of works by our talented, local members. Packed with paintings, drawings, ceramic and mixed media works, there will be something for everyone to enjoy! Everyone is welcome to this free event with nibbles and a bar open to purchase drinks. |

Self Assembly: A Participatory Creative Encounter with Simon Spain
03 & 04 July 10am – 1pm, each day Kin Kin Hall Final installation presented at the Kin Kin Market Join artist Simon Spain for a unique creative experience exploring selfhood, community, and the power of repair. In this transformative workshop, you’ll create figures using simple materials – sticks and plaster bandage – culminating in a connected installation that grows as each participant adds their figure to the evolving community. Self Assembly invites participants of all ages to engage deeply with the process of making. Beginning with a pile of gathered sticks, you’ll build a figure representing yourself or someone important to you. You'll join the pieces together with plaster bandage – the same material used in orthopaedic casts – which hardens with a gentle exothermic reaction, literally warming in your hands as it sets. The result is a striking figure that captures our gestures, movement, and intention. Figures stand only when joined to another – symbolising interdependence and belonging – and the final installation is a collective celebration of those connections. This is a powerful, hands-on workshop that explores themes of reconstruction, grief, and joy. Participants often describe the experience as grounding, surprising and deeply moving. Simon will guide you through the creative process and share insights from his internationally recognised participatory art practice. Together, you’ll reflect on the shared human need to build, connect and belong. |
Level: Suitable for all ages and experience levels. Families, individuals and groups welcome. Also suitable for teaching artists and anyone who works with arts in community engagement.
All materials supplied. Please wear clothes suitable for messy hands-on making. |
