Come away with a collection of techniques ready to use at home. The workshop concludes with an introductory abstract piece of art, bringing together several techniques learnt during the day. Have you just begun on your watercolour journey or dabbled just a little? Come and learn more about finding your balance between tightness and looseness and techniques in saturation, water control, layering and so much more. Guided by local, award-winning artist Libby Derham, enjoy the finest artist quality paints - Daniel Smith Watercolours for the day and explore painting onto different papers. This workshop will provide opportunities to explore controlled watercolour versus loose, abstract and flowing watercolour. Ideal for those with some experience in watercolour, especially those that have completed Libby's 'Introduction to Watercolour' workshops and would like to extend their skills. New to watercolour? Vibrant Abstraction
with Odessa Mahony-DeVries

EVENT: Join Odessa Mahony-de Vries to create your own vibrant abstract painting on quality coloured paper and a final canvas piece. Designed for beginners through to professionals, this workshop will guide you in gaining an understanding for composition, mark making, and colour theory. These three vital elements of abstract art will enable you to create a strong artwork that will feel well resolved and ready to frame for your home. 
Odessa is currently exhibiting at the Noosa Regional Gallery in the group show 'Paint' (April 29 - June 16).

Totem Sculptures

EVENT: Join ceramicist Maria Brown over two consecutive Saturday's to create your own abstract totem.
On the first Saturday, participants will use hand building techniques to create a variety of abstract forms layered with textures and patterns.
After a bisque firing, participants will return the following Saturday to paint and assemble the forms with metal and wood.

Gaze & Expression: Ceramic Portrait Sculpture

DATES: Friday July 15 - Sunday July 17
​TIME: 10am – 3pm

EVENT: Create lifelike and profound portraits in clay. During a three-day workshop participants will learn to successfully create physical harmony and expression, while balancing techniques, and creativity. Erika will lead participant through the anatomical study of the skull and individual features to create expression and narrative. Over the course students will gain fluency in the handling of clay and a visceral understanding of the human face.
The workshop is open to all levels of experience.

Puppet Making
with David Erskine

Puppetry is one of the oldest forms of storytelling, with traditions stretching back through history to almost all civilizations. In this masterclass, performance artist David Erskine takes you on an inspirational journey into the
art of puppet making.
Over two consecutive Saturdays, you will be taken through the process of creating puppet heads using one of David’s favourite methods. The first session will focus on sculpting characters out of clay and casting them in latex. In the following session participants will be removing their work from the
mould and bringing it to life by giving it colour and expression with acrylic paint.
All materials supplied.

Artist/educator Ruth Horton will adopt a creative approach to the subject matter 'Still Life’ - using lead -in exercises to stimulate ideas and processes.  You will be working with vessels constructed from clay and found materials. 
​Artists will draw, print and collage their responses as a way into a fuller composition. Participants are invited to bring their own tool box of drawing and painting materials.
Paper and support material will be provided.

Glazing Masterclass

Tac - Tiles Paper Sculpture

EVENT: Create your own modular sensory artwork, inspired by Max Bill words: "an infinite number of very different developments can be evolved according to individual inclination and temperament."
Participants will start constructing the square tiles (using primary and neutral colours paper strips) and will be inspired by the ‘concrete art movement’ and its precise and pre-emptive compositional structures, to use their tiles to compose
a unique paper sculpture.

Sophie Munns launched her Homage to the seed project in 2010 and continues to share this all-encompassing fascination with others.
