Children's Gel Plate Workshop with Brooke Barnett - Thursday 1st Oct
JOIN US Thursday 1st October for an easy, fun workshop for children aged 8-12, showing the versatility of printing with gel plates. Island Fashion on tour
The Cooroy Butter Factory Arts Centre is delighted to present ‘Island Fashion on Tour’, a Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) regional touring project for children and families.
‘Island Fashion on Tour’ features a range of free, hands-on art making activities created by QAGOMA in collaboration with Australian and Pacific artists Grace Lillian Lee, Maryann Talia Pau and Ranu James and Letila Mitchell.
Grace Lillian Lee’s activity GET YOUR WEAVE ON 2019 encourages audiences to use simple folding techniques with strips of brightly coloured paper to create wearable accessories such as paper bracelets, neckpieces and head-pieces.
While Maryann Talia Pau and Ranu James’ activity ULA TAIM 2019 encourages the creation of elaborate neckpieces, wristbands and anklets using hand-drawn patterns and weaving with paper.

No fusing with heat is required. tools, surfaces and techniques will be explored. The use of pigment sticks along with cold wax and oil paint will be discussed. The workshop program is designed to suit all-comers … those who attended a previous workshop with the artist, experienced creatives and those keen to discover inspiration from the world of seeds through wide ranging experiments with media and methods of responding to seed material.
