SeedArt Lab: Seeds to Abstraction 
with Sophie Munns

EVENT: Come and dig into the world of Bio-cultural diversity through the lens of Seeds with a morning of experimental drawing and mark-making followed by an afternoon constructing an artist book to tell your story around seeds & important places in your life using a lively semi-abstract or abstract visual approach, exploring seeds as both motif and symbol.

Sophie Munns launched her Homage to the seed project in 2010 and continues to share this all-encompassing fascination with others.

An Evening with Malcolm Greenwood

EVENT: Join renowned potter Malcolm Greenwood for a conversation about his career spanning 43 years. Malcolm will share his knowledge of Japanese and West African pottery techniques, and tableware commissions for Australia's leading restaurants.

Malcolm's high quality porcelain wares have been commissioned by The Bentley Restaurant and Bar, Monopole, Yellow, Masuya Group,Ormeggio and Bennelong and featured inVogue Entertaining, Gourmet Traveller and Vogue Living.

Alla Prima Painting Workshop

EVENT: 
Join artist Lauren Jones for a fun oil painting workshop that explores the ‘alla prima’ technique. Alla Prima is a direct painting approach where paint is applied wet on wet without letting the earlier layers dry. The workshop will explore shape and tone as a part of a gestural and expressive painting practice. Oil paint, canvas and brushes all supplied. Participants will take home a ‘finished artwork’.

Wild Life Art
with Ruth Horton

DATE: Saturday 10 April 2021

EVENT:
Artists in the workshop will be encouraged to express their ideas in a creative and encouraging environment. Participants will create studies of animal life rendered in charcoal, ink and watercolour, which will reference the current exhibition focusing on Australian wildlife. Paper, charcoal and ink will be provided with artists encouraged to bring their own toolbox.​

Lets Play Wild

EVENT: 
While exploring bountiful beauty of plants around us, sharing and celebrating our connection to natural world and each other, "Let's Play Wild" workshop will provide attendees with the opportunity to participate in the process of creating sculptural adornments for themselves from all sorts of organic materials - grasses, twigs, dried and fresh flowers, roots, and many other natural fibers. The participants then will have an opportunity to have a portrait taken with their created artwork. Everyone is invited to bring along some treasure from their garden, back yard or bush, that they possibly would like to play with. 2 portraits of each individual will be e-mailed to participants after the workshop.

USING examples of Aboriginal art,  recreate unique symbols that fit your own individual stories.

 Although you will be learning from an indigenous artist the class is not about recreating indigenous work but about using symbology to create your own unique work.

CREATE an acrylic underpainting portrait guided by Jandamarra prior to learning some secrets of oil glazes achieving form & depth to your canvas. This exciting workshop has been made possible by a community projects grant thanks to Flying Arts and the Australian Government Regional Arts Fund

A fun, creative drawing workshop with local artist and art educator Ruth Horton, will explore the mediums of charcoal, ink and watercolour on large sheets of paper. Having travelled extensively Ruth’s art practice explores a myriad of themes and mediums. She captures scenes of flora and fauna in a highly personal, lively and colourful way. Currently her attention has focused on the natural environment with birds, fish and coastal themes predominating. Artists in the workshop will be encouraged to express their ideas in a creative and encouraging environment. Participants will create studies of natural plant and animal life rendered in charcoal, ink and watercolour, which will combine to form images that reflect the diversity of Noosa and its surrounds.





5 DAY Cold Wax Abstract Painting Intensive Workshop - SOLD OUT

Discover the seductive rich qualities of cold wax medium, oil paints and other mixed media. Experienced and generous tutors, Kym Barrett and Cheryl McGannon will guide you through this five day intensive workshop in an atmosphere of experimentation and play.  You will be introduced to many new techniques to enhance and grow your current art practice.
Both Cheryl and Kym are award winning artists who have exhibited nationally and internationally. 

​By their joint teaching this exciting Cold Wax Workshop, you will be exposed to rich, diverse ideologies and inspirational teaching.

There will be ample demonstrations and presentations about abstraction, design and developing your own personal creative voice. Participants will have plenty of time to paint and notes on techniques and process will be provided.

This workshop could push your artwork to the next level!
